Both the Federal and Provincial Government have committed an investment of $90-million each for a total of $180-million to help bring ultra high-speed internet to Southwestern Ontario.

As part of the Southwestern Integrated Fibre Technology (SWIFT) project, the investment will give access to high-speed internet by delivering it to 3.5 million people.

High speed internet is recognized as a major factor contributing to economic growth and development. Recently, the Dufferin Board of Trade in partnership with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce called on Premier Kathleen Wynne to commit dedicated provincial infrastructure funds to developing and expanding broadband internet access in remote and rural areas of the province.

The Dufferin Board of Trade commends the SWIFT project for their hard work in securing the funding for the project as well as the provincial and federal government for demonstrating a commitment to investing in real trade building infrastructure.
