Following the Orangeville Election Forum hosted by the Dufferin Board of Trade on September 18, 2018, it was brought to the attention of the organization that there were apparent issues with the time-keeping during both the Council candidate introductions and the Mayor and Deputy Mayor Q & A session. After reviewing the footage from the evening, the Dufferin Board of Trade can confirm that, unfortunately, there were inconsistencies with the time-keeping. Technical difficulties were experienced with the official time piece which caused these inconsistencies. Our sincere apologies are extended to the candidates and to the public. Every effort was taken to ensure that the Forum was fair and even for all participants and we regret that in this regard, that was not the case. We acknowledge that our Orangeville candidates worked diligently on their remarks and that some were not given their full allocated time to speak. This responsibility rests solely with the Dufferin Board of Trade and should in no way diminish the public’s perception of the passion, preparedness, and professionalism of the Candidates present at the Forum. The Orangeville Forum nonetheless provided a great opportunity for the public to engage with their Candidates and to discuss the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead for our community.
