East “Gary” as it’s known to locals is home to a variety of small businesses, agricultural pursuits and the hamlet of Marsville. It is situated to the south-west of Dufferin County allowing an easy commute to the south to Brampton, Mississauga, but also to Fergus, Guelph and the Waterloo Region. The Grand River flows through the Township giving the local artists inspiration and the local farmers ample water.
The rolling countryside has inspired several local businesses to locate here, some with international fame such as Jay-Lor, makers of TMR mixers for the agricultural community, others demonstrate the creative passion that is plentiful in Dufferin County such as the unique fire pit designs of Iron Embers. Jay-Lor was the recent winner of the 2015 Dufferin Business Excellence Award for Employer of the Year.
