Diane Walmsley

I am a writer, working from my home in Hockley Valley. As a resident, home-owner, and parent I have a deeply-rooted interest in all the affairs of our town. My focus includes protecting it from external influence, helping to manage it in a fiscally responsible manner, and ensuring it serves the best interests of the people.

After graduating from Wilfrid Laurier University, with a double major degree in Kinesiology and Psychology, I began my career with Fairmont Hotels and Resorts in Lake Louise, Alberta. I held various positions with the company over the years, with a focus on environmental project management. Most notably, I was tasked with managing environmental initiatives, and ensuring the hotel was in compliance with stipulations set out by Banff National Park, and was awarded the Colleague of the Year Award for my effort and successes.

After returning to Ontario, I transitioned to projects in the healthcare sector both at the Local Health Integration Network level, as well as the provincial level. I coordinated an audit funding program, and also managed a Key Performance Indicator program for Ontario Hospitals.

My work experience has taught me to be a unbiased yet decisive individual, while maintaining a principled, disciplined, and fair approach to all issues. I aim to bring a youthful perspective and energy to Council.
