Nestled in Mulmur on the Niagara Escarpment, Peace Valley Ranch has been part of Dufferin’s rural landscape since 1965. Founded by Dorothee Cosack’s grandfather, the ranch was chosen for its rolling pastures, open skies, and a sense of safety and stability that reminded him of his homeland in Germany. Today, Dorothee represents the third generation of ranchers, carrying forward a legacy of sustainability, cattle ranching, and hospitality.
The ranch is best known for its cow-calf cattle operation and agri-tourism experiences that draw visitors from Toronto and beyond. With 40 well-trained horses, Peace Valley Ranch offers guided rides across open fields—no experience required. Guests can book private rides or “Day in the Life” packages, where they work alongside the ranchers and help manage cattle on horseback. As Dorothee explains, “We’re not your typical trail riding place. We love putting people together with horses and cows, and tailoring the experience to every guest.”
Beyond tourism, the ranch also sells locally processed, grass-fed beef, certified through the VBP+ (Verified Beef Production Plus) program, ensuring sustainability and animal welfare are at the heart of operations. When possible, they source feed from local suppliers and collaborate with local trail authorities to maintain and preserve the land.
