ORANGEVILLE

July 14, 2016

The Town of Orangeville is number four on the 2016 ranking of Canada’s Best Places for Business – Top 10 Most Affordable, as selected by Canadian Business and PROFIT. The publications have just announced the rankings for best business places.

Orangeville’s central location in southwestern Ontario and proximity to the GTA make it an ideal location for business. Less than an hour from Toronto Pearson International Airport, within 30 minutes of Ontario’s 400 series highways, and with rail service connecting local manufacturers with the CPR mainline in Mississauga, Orangeville is well connected to a global marketplace. A relatively youthful, available and well-educated population provide a qualified workforce and the Town’s urban amenities on the edge of a natural rural environment appeal to residents and businesses alike.

Striving to create a business-friendly environment, the Town works to minimize municipal regulations for business, provides assistance to emerging and growing ventures, and ensures that the Town’s infrastructure supports business development. For example, the Town waives development charges for most industrial uses to help streamline development and provides highly competitive hydro distribution rates through its ownership of Orangeville Hydro. Operation of its Orangeville Brampton Railway helps to reduce transportation costs for local industry and is another innovative example of Orangeville’s competitive value.

“This recognition is proof of what most in Orangeville already know, we are among the best of the best of places to do business in,” said Mayor Jeremy D Williams. “With such a high rating of affordability and a quality of lifestyle that is in my opinion second to none, our future remains bright. I’m extremely proud to be mayor of such a well-regarded community and know our residents share in that pride.”

“We are pleased to be recognized by Canadian Business and PROFIT as one of the most affordable places for business in Canada,” said Nancy Tuckett, Orangeville’s Director of Economic Development, Planning and Innovation. “The ranking demonstrates that the Town is reaching out to businesses and looking to meet their needs in a manner which improves their bottom line. That speaks volumes for the business community and the Town alike. Check out Orangeville atwww.orangevillebusiness.ca or www.orangeville.ca.”

Produced by two of the country’s best-known business media outlets — Canadian Business and PROFIT — the 2016 Canada’s Best Places for Business ranking factors in more than 20 indicators of cost, market trends and business friendliness collected from various sources and participating municipalities. The ranking is designed to help entrepreneurs and executives make smarter decisions on where to start, expand or relocate their enterprises.

“It takes the support of an entire community to foster successful businesses,” said James Cowan, Editor-in-chief of Canadian Business and PROFIT. “The municipalities on our ranking show a clear commitment to business-friendly policies and economic development. That’s good news for their business owners, entrepreneurs and residents.”
