Dufferin, ON: The Dufferin Board of Trade (DBOT) is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2017 Business Excellence Awards (BEAs). Nominations are being accepted through the Dufferin Board of Trade website at dufferinbot.ca/nominate.
The Business Excellence Awards recognize outstanding businesses, organizations, and individuals in Dufferin County who have worked diligently and tirelessly to excel in their field. The eight highly esteemed awards are presented at the Business Excellence Awards Gala held annually in October. It is a night of celebration and inspiration unrivaled in the region and business excellence has the centre stage. The Business Excellence Awards Gala will be held on October 19th, 2017.
In 2017 DBOT is excited to be presenting three new award categories: Association of the Year, Emerging Business Award, and Innovator Award. These new awards recognize the dynamic, ever-changing and evolving business environment in Dufferin and the Province of Ontario. Local businesses can participate through award nominations and the many different sponsorship opportunities. Award sponsors present their award to the deserving recipient at the gala event.
BEA Nominees set an example of excellence that resonates into every aspect of the business community in Dufferin. The Dufferin Board of Trade presents the following 2017 Business Excellence Award categories:
Business of the year – under 10 employees
Recognizes a small business for noteworthy accomplishments, long-standing contributions to Dufferin County, and significant community involvement. This business demonstrates best business practices and is a leader amongst Dufferin businesses.
Business of the Year – 10 or more employees
Recognizes a larger business for noteworthy accomplishments, long-standing contributions to Dufferin County, and significant community involvement. This business demonstrates best business practices and is a leader amongst Dufferin businesses.
Association of the Year
Recognizes a non-profit association, charity, or agency that has made an outstanding contribution to the social, cultural or economic well-being of Dufferin County, is consistently responsive to community needs, delivers outstanding service to its beneficiaries, and communicates a well-articulated vision and mission in support of a strong and viable community. The association will have shown innovation and leadership, and achieved outstanding success in the not-for-profit sector.
Emerging Business Award
Honours a new emerging business that is achieving outstanding business performance in a short period of time, demonstrates exceptional promise for continued growth and serves as an inspiration for other new businesses.
Awarded to a business or organization that is a trailblazer of the Dufferin business community, striving ahead to achieve remarkable results. Innovators are committed, determined, and skilled game-changers in their industry.
Young Professional of the Year
Recognizes a successful and dynamic young professional under the age of 40 who represents Dufferin County in a professional manner and conducts business in an ethical fashion. This person should be creative and innovative, and demonstrate strong business acumen and vision.
Recognizes a business or community organization which, mindful of the interconnectedness of all aspects of its surrounding community has demonstrated a long-term view to protecting the local environment, providing a diverse, inclusive and balanced workforce and community and is developing and nurturing sustainable growth which is mindful of resource limits, either within its own business/organization or in the broader community.
Business Citizen of the year
This award is presented to a business person that has shown leadership, community involvement and is a pioneer and mentor in the business community.
Nominations will remain open for the 2017 Business Excellence Awards until July 15th, 2017. We encourage all businesses and residents of Dufferin County to visit dufferinbot.ca/nominate to review the criteria and nominate those that most exemplify excellence in business in Dufferin County.
