Dufferin County, ON: On May 17, 2017 members of the Dufferin Board of Trade (DBOT) and business and community leaders from across the County gathered for the Think Local Food Showcase & Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the scenic Monora Park Pavillion. The event coincides with the DBOT Think Local Campaign which launched in January of this year. Local food had the spotlight as Dufferin’s best eateries and caterers served dishes inspired by locally sourced ingredients. DBOT members in attendance participated in voting on the various motions of the AGM which notably included the motion to approve the 2017 Board of Directors and the 2017 Executive Officers, confirming Chair-Elect Pete Renshaw to his position as Chair of the Board of Directors. Following the motion, the Board was officially sworn-in by the Warden of Dufferin County, Darren White.

 

It was at this time that the newly confirmed Chair, gave a statement on his term ahead. Mr. Renshaw spoke about the necessity of having a strong voice for the business community and about the work that the Duffeirn Board of Trade will continue to do on behalf of its members and the business community. The importance of collaboration and partnerships was a theme of Mr. Renshaw’s statement to the members. Mr. Renshaw stated “Our Board of Trade is unique in that we maintain strong relationships with our municipalities who know they can rely on us to represent the interest of the business community. DBOT will continue to ensure your interests are well represented at all levels of government”. The new Chair also confirmed that under his chairmanship DBOT will remain focused on supporting the high-speed connectivity and accessibility initiatives within the County and the Province. In closing, Mr. Renshaw extended the Board’s gratitude to Past-Chair Joe Andrews for his commitment and leadership over his two-year term as Chair of the Board.

 

Past-Chair Joe Andrews was also presented with a gavel plaque commemorating his time as Chair of the Dufferin Board of Trade by John Telfer, CAO of the Town of Shelburne and fellow DBOT board member.

 

Following the official adjournment of the AGM agenda, guests participated in the business card draw for the three door prizes and had more opportunities to network and connect with  members as well as other business and community stakeholders in attendance. The event was generously sponsored by McClean Sherwood Event Rental, Adamo Estate Winery, Sheldon Creek Dairy, Mochaberry Coffee Co., Petals Flower Co., and Escarpment Gardens. Food was provided by The Friendly Chef Adventures, Gourmandissimo Catering and Fine Food, Lavender Blue Catering Ltd., Reid’s Potatoes, Shelburne Golf and County Club/Robin’s Catering, and the Globe Restaurant.
