Dufferin County, ON: On May 15, 2019 members of the Dufferin Board of Trade (DBOT) and business and community leaders from across the County gathered for the Think Local Food Showcase & Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Adamo Estate Winery. Local food had the spotlight as Dufferin’s best eateries and caterers served dishes inspired by locally sourced ingredients.
DBOT members in attendance participated in voting on the various motions of the AGM which notably included the motion to approve the 2019 Board of Directors and the 2019 Executive Officers, confirming Chair-Elect Pete Renshaw to his position as Chair of the Board of Directors. Following the motion, the Board was officially sworn-in by the Warden of Dufferin County, Darren White.
The Dufferin Board of Trade Chair, Mr. Renshaw spoke about our 110th year, and the ever evolving business community here in Dufferin and that the Duffeirn Board of Trade will continue to work on behalf of its members and the business community to bring about changes that move our communities forward.
Mr. Renshaw stated, “Working with our members, we build connections, foster growth, and bring about changes that move our communities forward. This work that was started over a century ago is now accomplished by each and every one of you in this room. Your businesses create jobs, foster economic growth, and are the backbone of our community.”
Following the official adjournment of the AGM agenda, guests participated in the business card draw for the three door prizes and had more opportunities to network and connect with members as well as other business and community stakeholders in attendance. The event was generously sponsored by JDC Custom Homes, Adamo Estate Winery, the Dufferin Federation of Agriculture, and Gourmandissimo. Food was provided by Adamo Estate Winery, Fromage, Shelburne Golf & Country Club and Robin’s Catering, Lavender Blue, Beyond the Gate, Ecology Retreat, Gourmandissimo, Reid’s Potatoes, and Wicked Shortbread.
