Since opening its doors in 1998, KTH Shelburne Manufacturing has become one of the region’s largest employers and a key player in Canada’s automotive supply chain. A Tier 1 supplier to Honda, Toyota, and GM, KTH specializes in stamping and welding underbody components—the very foundation that helps manufacturers like Honda achieve their 5-star crash safety ratings. Owned by a Japanese parent company, KTH has grown steadily in Shelburne and today employs more than 525 people, with plans to add up to 75 more once its new stamping plant expansion is complete. Roughly three-quarters of its workforce lives within 25 kilometres of the plant, making it a major economic driver in Dufferin County. As President, Shane Hall emphasizes, “Our associates are our greatest asset. Their skill, dedication, and teamwork are what drive our success every day.” Apprenticeship programs for electricians, millwrights, tool and die makers, and welders ensure employees continue to develop valuable skills, particularly as automation plays a greater role in manufacturing. They are constantly looking to increase their local skilled talent.
KTH is also distinguished by its efficiency. Canadian operations are recognized among the company’s global network as top performers, prompting consideration of further expansions in Ontario. The Shelburne facility uses Canadian-sourced steel supplied directly by automakers, while specialized presses and some components are imported from Japan.
Strategically located near major highways, KTH delivers parts directly to assembly plants in Alliston, Cambridge and various US States. Beyond production, the company supports the community initiatives through such things as park improvements and event space, reinforcing its long-term commitment to Dufferin County.
