In March 2025, Kal Tire officially opened its new Amaranth facility—the largest warehouse and Remanufacturing facility in Canada. Part of a family-owned company headquartered in Vernon, BC, Kal Tire has been in business for over 70 years and is recognized as the largest tire retreader in Canada, with 16 facilities nationwide.
The Amaranth location represents a major consolidation, bringing 14 independent business units under one roof in a 410,000-square-foot building with an additional nine-acre OTR tire storage yard. Today, the site employs 100 people, split between tire retreading, warehousing, and Kal Transportation. Many of these team members relocated from other Kal Tire facilities, choosing to make Dufferin home.
Kal Tire’s Remanufacturing process is both innovative and environmentally responsible. Used truck tires are cleaned, inspected, and given new tread, reducing the need for raw materials and keeping tires in service longer instead of heading to landfills. Depending on the quality of the casing, a tire can be safely retreaded three to seven times, each cycle using only a fraction of the natural resources required to manufacture a new tire. As National Director of Remanufacturing Kyle van de Bospoort explains, “It’s good for the bottom line and the environment.” Kal Tire also stands behind its work with a comprehensive warranty program, guaranteeing every retread and tire repair against workmanship issues.
Currently retreading 80,000 tires annually—with the capacity to triple that output—Kal Tire’s Amaranth facility showcases Canadian innovation, sustainability, and a long-term commitment to Dufferin.
