For Immediate Release | July 27/20
Dufferin ON: The Dufferin Board of Trade (DBOT) is pleased to announce that their social innovation project, the Dufferin Biz Hub, has been awarded funding through the Investment Readiness Program (IRP). Funded by the Government of Canada, the IRP supports social purpose organizations as they contribute to solving pressing social, cultural, and environmental challenges across Canada. The Dufferin Biz Hub application was one of 1,350 submitted, and one of 257 projects that were funded across Canada. DBOT would like to congratulate our member, Streams Community Hub, on being a recipient of this grant as well!
The Dufferin Biz Hub fosters innovation and growth in our community by supporting entrepreneurship and empowering local small businesses. The Biz Hub is a safe, professional, and affordable business centre with workspace rentals, meeting room rentals, high-speed internet, kitchenette facilities, mail/parcel drop off service, small office storage space, and much more.
The $16,000 grant will help the Dufferin Biz Hub create and pilot a marketing/branding strategy, maximize and organize the rental spaces, and study the feasibility of future expansion of the Hub. The grant will also help offset some of the costs associated with Covid-19 safety precautions, such as sanitizers, barriers, and additional cleanings.
On August 18th, 2020 the Dufferin Biz Hub will have its official grand opening and open house at its location at 246372 Hockley Road Mono. Local dignitaries and DBOT members will be invited for an outdoor, physically-distanced ribbon cutting at 1pm, with tours from 1:30-5pm. Chairwoman of the Board, Liz Skorski says: “I would like to personally invite all local business owners and community builders to come out for a tour of this great space.”
Spaces are available to rent immediately at the Biz Hub. To find out more and book a space or a tour, visit: www.dufferin.biz
