For Immediate Release | 11 September 2019

Dufferin ON: The Dufferin Board of Trade (DBOT) and the Dufferin Federation of Agriculture (DFA) are two small non-profit and non-partisan organizations supporting business and agricultural in Dufferin. Together, they are proud to continue the tradition of connecting candidates and constituents across our Dufferin-Caledon electoral district.

This year we are pleased to offer the community the opportunity to connect with and learn about the candidates both online through our Elections Portal and in person at the Election Forum.

The Election Forum will take place on October 1st from 6:30pm-9pm, at the Orangeville District Secondary School. The Forum will begin with a meet-and-greet with the candidates from 6:30 – 7:00. The live-televised/live-streamed moderated forum will begin at 7pm sharp. Each candidate will be given a few minutes to present their opening remarks and then the moderator, Doug Harkness, will ask questions from those submitted by the community. Questions must be submitted to the Dufferin Board of Trade by September 26th either online, by mail, or phone. Candidates will not be informed of the questions prior to the event. Each candidate will have a set time to respond to each question. At the conclusion of the question period each candidate will be given a few minutes for closing remarks to summarize their positions and platform.

Due to time constraints, not all questions submitted can be asked during the televised Forum. Questions not asked will be sent to candidates following the Forum, and the written responses received will be posted on the online Election Portal.

Thanks to the support of Rogers TV, the Election Forum will air live on their station and will also be streamed live during the event. The link to the Rogers live stream broadcast will be posted on our online Election Portal, www.dufferinbot.ca/election. This online portal also contains candidate bios, details on the Forum, the link to submit questions, and useful election-related links.

All candidates that have currently declared they are running in Dufferin-Caledon have been invited to participate both online and at the Forum. We thank all the candidates for their dedication to this community and for putting forward their names to represent our community in Parliament.

Questions for candidates may be submitted by September 26th online or mailed to:
The Dufferin Board of Trade
246372 Hockley Road
Mono, ON L9W 6K4

The Forums will not be a town-hall format; no questions will be taken from the floor.

The Dufferin Board of Trade, with support of the Dufferin Federation of Agriculture, is pleased to host the Election Forum and Portal in service to our members, the business and agricultural community, and residents of Dufferin County. We encourage all voters to make sure to vote on October 21st!
