Over the years the Community Projects Committee has donated in excess of 2,500 quilts of various sizes to individual families who were victims of house fires, to Dufferin/Caledon Victim Services, to Hospice Dufferin, to Dufferin Child & Family Services,to Choices Youth Shelter, to Banquet of Hope,to Headwaters Hospital and to the Young Mothers High School Program. In addition to quilt donations the Guild also donates annually placemats to Meals on Wheel Dufferin/Caledon, Mastectomy Pillows to Headwaters Hospital Recovery Unit and pillow cases to “Cases for Smiles” at Sick Kids Hospital as well as 200 Journals to Family Transition Place, stocking stuffers (toiletries, hats, gloves, socks, underwear, gift cards) to The Door, Cedar Heights Residential School, Choices Youth Shelter and Family Transition Place and a book each to the four local Public Libraries.

The Guild also makes lap and bed size quilts for Community Groups to use in their own fund-raising efforts and over the past 25 years, in excess of 11,000 dollars in cash has been donated to the Museum of Dufferin, the three Dufferin Food Banks and the four local Fall Fairs.

The individual Guild members donate generously from their personal fabric stash and give freely of their time and energy to sew, quilt and deliver these gifts of comfort and caring. “Thank you” notes of gratitude from these Community Groups and individuals often express that “receiving a quilt is like being given a hug”.
