Streams Community Hub is an arts-centred, youth-focused, community-minded charity based in Shelburne. Our mission is to provide an engaging environment to educate, inspire, and encourage youth development, community involvement and leadership. We especially focus on providing arts education and experiences for youth in rural and unserved communities.

We are a group of people who are passionate about seeing young lives grow and flourish. In everything we do, we hope to connect the individual to an enduring sense of who they are and who they can be. We use art, in its various forms, as the spark that lights the flame of imagination and possibility.

Currently, we accomplish this through creative arts camps during March Break and Summer. Since our first camp in 2017, we have served over 200 children from Dufferin County (and even one from Peel Region :-)). Since we believe deeply in the power of the arts to aid in the building of self-confidence and self-esteem, to serve as a building block for greater academic success, and to help young people discover their purpose and passion in life, we focus on eliminating barriers–particularly economic ones–that prevent access to arts exposure and education.

We keep the cost of our camps low, offer a no-questions-asked 50% subsidy on top of this, and in cases where a family cannot afford the cost at all, we offer full scholarships to camp. We want to ensure that every child who wants to come to camp, can.

As a registered charity, we depend on the power of community. We are supported by parents, community members, and the local business community. We like to say “You make a difference when you pay the difference.” Our fundraising dollars go directly towards covering the cost of providing the camp experience and covering the cost of scholarships and subsidies. On average to date, just over 50% of our attendees since 2017 have attended camp on a full or partial scholarship.
