ALAS

Active Lives After School (ALAS) Dufferin is a day program and support service for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Located in the lower level of the Lord Dufferin Center close to the heart of downtown Orangeville ALAS Dufferin provides service to 27 local families offering recreational, therapeutic and volunteer opportunities. ALAS Dufferin provides service in cooperation with a variety of Dufferin County businesses including Johanis Karate School, Busy Lizzy Fitness, local artists, private fitness contractors, musicians, dance teachers, Theatre Orangeville, and the Town of Orangeville to provide active and inclusive activities for adults with developmental disabilities. ALAS Dufferin is also partnered with 7 other local non-profit organizations to send small groups in to our community to volunteer and give back. Some of these volunteer sites include: the Orangeville food bank, Meals on Wheels, Hats On Dufferin, The Restore, Family Transition Place and Island Lake Conservation area. We believe that all activities including recreation and volunteering enrich the lives of all members of our society and together we can create an inclusive community that respects and values each and everyone of us.
