Andrew Stirk

My name is Andrew Stirk and I would like to represent you in the position of councillor on Amaranth Township Council. My wife, Jess, and I are residents of Amaranth. We both grew up in the Orangeville area and feel fortunate that we are now able to raise our family in an area that we truly love for all it has to offer. Amaranth is also home to our family business.

I attended ODSS, after which, I graduated from the business program at Sheridan College. I subsequently joined our family automotive business, which has served residents and businesses of Dufferin and Peel counties for 43 years. In 2016, the decision was made to relocate our facilities to the business area of Amaranth, at which time, I assumed the management of the company.

I am a firm supporter of small businesses and understand the challenges that they face on a daily basis. I place great value on the contribution that they make to our communities and local economy. Likewise, having spent a great deal of time in my childhood at the farm of my grandfather (a large animal veterinarian whose practice served clients in Dufferin County) as well as, having family members who actively farm in Dufferin County, I also understand the importance of agriculture as a major economic driver in our community.

I have a keen interest in motor sports and have been fortunate enough to pursue my passion for the sport as a driver, twice placing in the top 10 of the world rankings in the categories I participate in. I have spent many years organizing and promoting semi-professional events and assisting motorsport facilities with their marketing, as well as, hosting large public awards ceremonies. I have published articles in both Canadian and American Motorsport magazines and currently co-host a bi-weekly podcast, centring around topics of interest to the sport.

I feel it is important to be engaged and serve your community and I believe that my experience in business and communications would be of value to the next township council. If I am fortunate enough to be selected as one of your elected representatives, I would attempt to bring a common sense approach to each issue that we face and to conduct myself in an honourable and professional manner.
Amaranth is a place that I am proud to call home and excited to grow our family business in.
