2024 Play Local Golf Tournament

Our 2024 Play Local Golf Tournament was a massive success! With perfect weather and smiles all around, the event brought our community together in a meaningful way. Hosted annually by the Dufferin Board of Trade, this tournament has become a beloved tradition, and this year’s edition raised the bar with new and exciting features for everyone to enjoy.
Highlights of the Day
This year, our golf committee introduced fresh elements to enhance the experience, including:
- Appetizers served before the awards ceremony.
- Virtual Reality Experience courtesy of Legaci VR Verse, offering a unique chance to try VR for free.
- Big Auction Prizes to bid on throughout the day.
However, the fan-favorite addition was the Mulligans draw, which gave participants a chance to win a $400 YETI Cooler, generously donated by Bill Gillam from Shelburne Home Hardware.
Morning Kick Start
The day started with guests arriving to grab their mulligans and enjoy some networking over Shelburne Golf & Country Club’s delicious boxed lunches. We brought back some classic games, including:
- Lucky Ducky Prize Pull
- 50/50 Putting Contest
We’re thrilled to announce that we raised over $2,000 just from the games and mulligans! Events like this are essential for our nonprofit organization, helping us generate the funds to continue the work we do for our community.
Capturing the Moments
Throughout the day, Jaemilyn, our Communications Manager, and Tim, the Golf Committee Co-Chair, toured the course to capture memorable moments and check in on the contest hosts. It was wonderful to see participants having fun and building new connections.
Our summer students, Lindsay and Shehara, also spoke with some of the golfers about their experience. A member from Roto-mill commented, “It’s been a fantastic time, great pace, wonderful food! We had a blast!” Meanwhile, a first-time golfer from Leaves and Petals Garden Maintenance said, “It’s been a fantastic time! I’m looking forward to coming back next year.”
Hearing such positive feedback means the world to us, and we’re always excited to welcome back golfers year after year.
Evening Awards and Wrap-Up
As the rounds wrapped up, golfers were treated to delicious appetizers before heading into the banquet room for the awards ceremony, prizes, and auction. We’re excited to congratulate this year’s champions, The Plumbing Experts, for taking home first place! We hope to see them and all our golfers back again next year for more fun and community building.
