We are over 100 women who come together 4 times a year and raise approximately (usually more) $10,000 in an hour-long meeting for local charities! In a total of 5 meetings, since its inception, 100 + Women Who Care Dufferin has raised approximately $60,000!
The 100 Women Who Care organization was initially started in the states in 2006 and has grown globally to include hundreds of chapters of groups of Women, Men, Kids and People Who Care. Brenda Seltzer and I, Co-Founded the Dufferin Chapter in the spring of 2018. After being very impressed with both the efficiency and effectiveness of the concept, the Dufferin chapter was born! The Executive consists of 4 ladies; Brenda Seltzer, Liz Skorski, Lori-Jane Del Medico and myself, Sarah Aston.
Hockley Valley Resort and Conference Centre has been our event sponsor since the beginning and we sincerely appreciate the opportunity to hold our meetings at such a world-class venue. People usually come early to dine or socialize and the meetings then start promptly at 7:30 pm and are over by 8:30 pm. In that time, we hear three, five-minute presentations from randomly selected, pre-qualified charities that service Dufferin County. Everyone votes and then the winner is selected and people write the cheque to the winning charity. The registered charity subsequently issues tax receipts to donors.
It is that simple! In an hour we raise approximately $10,000. When people join 100 + Women Who Care Dufferin, they make a commitment to attend the 4 meetings in the year or send a proxy in their absence. They either pay $100.00 per meeting (for a total of $400.00 for the year) or join a team (2 individuals each paying $50.00 per meeting, four times a year or, 4 individuals each paying $25.00 per meeting, four times a year).
It is a highly effective way to raise significant money for charities that support our community in a relatively short period of time. You are invited to attend one of our quarterly meetings anytime with no obligation to join.
We are truly grateful for being nominated for the Dufferin Board of Trade’s Association of the Year Award.
